Equilibrium and kinetics of heavy metal ion exchange
Ion exchange has a great potential to remove heavy metals from industrial wastewaters or heavy metal-containing sludge. In order to design and operate heavy metal removal processes, the equilibrium relationship between ions and resin must be known a prior. A series of ion-exchange equilibrium tests of Cu/H, Zn/H, and Cd/H systems using Amberlite IR-120 were performed. The equilibrium data were ...
متن کاملPhenylthiourea Modified Highly Ordered Nanoporous Silica for Heavy Metal Ion (Hg2+ ) Trapping
The phenylthiourea-substituted triethoxysilane as a silane agent was synthesized and grafted on highly ordered nanoporous silica (LUS- 1) with a textured morphology and hexagonal array. This material (Tu-LUS-1) contained 0.8 mmol/g of soft base phenylthiourea group and surface area 760 m2 g-1 and was able to adsorb 0.75 mmolHg/g of TU-LUS-1 in endothermic reaction.
متن کاملNovel Mechanism of Nucleon Stopping in Heavy Ion Collisions
When a diquark does not fragment directly but breaks in such a way that only one of its quarks gets into the produced baryon, the latter is produced closer to mid rapidities. The relative size of this diquark breaking component increases quite fast with increasing energy. We show that at a given energy it also increases with the atomic mass number and with the centrality of the collision and th...
متن کاملCzcD is a heavy metal ion transporter involved in regulation of heavy metal resistance in Ralstonia sp. strain CH34.
The Czc system of Ralstonia sp. strain CH34 mediates resistance to cobalt, zinc, and cadmium through ion efflux catalyzed by the CzcCB(2)A cation-proton antiporter. The CzcD protein is involved in the regulation of the Czc system. It is a membrane-bound protein with at least four transmembrane alpha-helices and is a member of a subfamily of the cation diffusion facilitator (CDF) protein family,...
متن کاملParticle-Production Mechanism in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
We discuss the production of particles in relativistic heavy-ion collisions through the mechanism of massive bremsstrahlung, in which massive mesons are emitted during rapid nucleon acceleration. This mechanism is described within the framework of classical hadrodynamics for extended nucleons, corresponding to nucleons of finite size interacting with massive meson fields. This new theory provid...
